Roseanne Milazzo

My name is Roseanne Milazzo and I am a candidate for Township Commissioner in West Norriton.

I am running for the West Norriton Township Commission because I can find solutions to the challenges our town is facing.  A Township resident and homeowner since 2008, I regularly attend the Commissioners’ meetings. I worked with our Township Solicitor and other citizens to craft a Township ordinance; I volunteer as a member of the Environmental Advisory Council; and I’ve taken classes offered by the County to help me better understand zoning laws.

My husband Phil and I chose to live in West Norriton because it’s a diverse community with access to good transportation and recreation. I want to see our town become an even better place to live, a place with an even better quality of life for our residents.  Our Main Street can and should be a destination rather than merely a commuter route. Our river can and should offer more opportunities for recreation and community activities. We must prepare for the challenges of the future.  We need a 21st Century approach to governing West Norriton. I will contribute to that approach.

About Roseanne

Roseanne taught for 20 years in public schools in California, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.  Her most recent teaching experience was at Montgomery County Community College where she was both an English Instructor and a teacher in the Trio Upward Bound Program for students from Norristown and Pottstown High Schools.

Roseanne was appointed one of the charter members of West Norriton’s Environmental Advisory Council. She has also volunteered for the Norristown Area Education Foundation and for the MS Walk at Elmwood Park Zoo.

Her administrative experience includes serving as the Chairperson of an English Department and administering the New Jersey State Special Review Assessment Program in English Language Arts. Roseanne was voted Teacher of the Year by her peers and honored with a service award by the school community. More recently, Roseanne worked for Data Recognition Corporation as a Scoring Director for three state tests.

Before beginning her career in education, Roseanne worked as a bank clerk, a legal secretary, an assistant financial administrator, and as a waitress.  She held those jobs while completing her education, raising two children, and moving to 5 different states. She considers her wide experience as contributing to her skills as an educator and administrator.  Her best preparation for serving West Norriton comes from growing up in a small town in northern New Jersey – one much like West Norriton – guided by parents who modeled service to community. She lives with her husband Phil, who is a systems administrator.  They share their love of cycling and gardening. Roseanne supports the arts, loves attending theater productions, and is an avid soccer fan.

Roseanne holds a master’s degree in Language, Rhetoric and Writing from California State University.  Her undergraduate degree is in English with a Business Administration minor.
